    Take your paintings beyond realism in this course with Connie Geerts.  Over 4 weeks you’ll learn a number of ways to approach abstracting an image.  You’ll work with reference photos to abstract landscape, people, animals or whatever subject matter you choose.  You’ll try out some mixed media techniques and also learn how to start when creating from imagination.  Come ready to play in this fun supportive class!

    Please bring to class:   Set of acrylic paints,  acrylic medium (use what you have-soft gel medium is best), palette, paint brushes(I recommend 1″ flat, 1.25″ flat and a few smaller brushes) palette knife and other mark making tools, 16″x 20″ pad of canvas paper, a board to mount the canvas paper on, canvases 12 x 16 or bigger, Isopropyl alcohol, roll of paper towel,  sketch/note book, chalk (or something similar)  1 non-permanent  fine marker,1 fine permanent maker, 2-4 plastic binder sleeves, reference photos of things you want to paint.

    Supplies:   Set of acrylic paints, , palette, paint brushes (I recommend 1″ flat, 2″ flat, 1.5″ flat and a few smaller brushes)    2 large canvases (approximately  24×30 up to 40×40 or anything in between size-wise), Isopropyl alcohol, roll of paper towel, ruler, masking tape, sketch/note book, 1 non-permanent 2-4 plastic binder sleeves,  cropping “L”s,  reference photos of things you want to paint. (optional: hairdryer)

In this 4 week class, Connie will provide weekly demonstrations and guidance focusing on using colour effectively, personal style, loosening up, glazing, negative painting, how to simplify, creating believable eyes, design choices and what they convey and more.  Take your painting skills up a level in this fun and supportive class.

(optional: hairdryer)
