    As of March 16  Kensington Art Supply has closed its teaching studios in support of measures to limit gatherings, due to COVID-19.  As of today this class is still scheduled for April 26, but may be postponed to a later date – stay tuned.

    Get your whole body into it, and loosen up your method of painting by tackling two large paintings in this one day workshop.  You’ll learn how to get your ideas down quickly and accurately in a large format, and how to develop a more painterly style. We’ll discuss mark making, colour choices, design and more.  Stretch your body and your creative abilities in this fun, supportive class.

    Supplies:   Set of acrylic paints, , palette, paint brushes (I recommend 1″ flat, 2″ flat, 1.5″ flat and a few smaller brushes)    2 large canvases (approximately  24×30 up to 40×40 or anything in between size-wise), Isopropyl alcohol, roll of paper towel, ruler, masking tape, sketch/note book, 1 non-permanent, and 1 permanent fine marker,  2-4 plastic binder sleeves,  cropping “L”s,  reference photos of things you want to paint. (optional: hairdryer)

    Take a journey through the landscape in this one day class with Connie Geerts. She will take you with her step by step through her style of acrylic painting and you will go home with a completed painting you will be pleased to hang. Topics covered will include design shortcuts, brush choices, layering, personal style, mark making and more. Bring a lunch, an apron and a camera or notebook to record what you are learning, but especially bring yourself.

    All Art Supplies are included. Just show up and get creative!

    Have you been painting for a while but are struggling to develop a style that is uniquely yours? The aim of this course is to help you figure out your own, personal aesthetic and integrate it into your paintings.  Speed painting and simplifying will help you loosen up and you’ll learn why iterative practice can improve your painting ability quickly.  In class you’ll begin creating a cohesive body of work .  We’ll start you on a journey to hone your style to more accurately reflect you and to hopefully, give more creative satisfaction.

    Understanding how to use design, value and colour doesn’t have to be difficult.  In this class you’ll learn some basic, easy to remember rules that will help you understand and apply these important elements of art.  This isn’t your usual theory class. You will learn by doing and quickly be on your way to making stronger, more compelling artwork.  Each class will include exercises and time to work on your own paintings.
